Wild sheep gets its horn wrapped around a tree trunk. Photo: Screen grab from video
A Polish man and his son encountered a very unusual sight while jogging and bike riding in a forest near Konin, Poland. A wild sheep called a mouflon was wearing out a circle in the dirt under a tree it had become trapped on.
One of its huge horns was wrapped around the tree trunk, and the wild sheep was running circles around the tree trying desperately to free itself.
Clearly it was not destined to figure it out on its own, so Krzysztof Wlodarczyk stepped in to help as his son caught the rescue on video:
“He needed help, so I went and freed him,” Wlodarczyk told TVN24 of Poland.
At first, Wlodarczyk looked as if he was going to attempt to break off a limb and then possibly part of the tree trunk. But in the end, he just grabbed the horn and pushed it to freedom, after which the wild sheep took off up the hill.
What happened next isn’t on the video: The wild sheep stopped and turned around to look at his rescuer.
“We watched it in amazement for a few seconds,” Wlodarczyk said in a loose translation. “I think it was to say ‘thank you.’”
