Petition to Ban Jacquees From Doing Music Covers Has More Than 40,000 Signatures
When you think of the internet, the first word that comes to mind is “petty.”
The week leading up to Christmas, a man from Spartanburg, South Carolina named Ricky Fields started a Change.org petition in a hilarious effort to ban Jacquees from making covers of classic R&B tunes. “As a black community, we have to figure out how we getting rid of Jacquees,” he wrote.
PREVIOUSLY: Jacquees Called Himself the Current King of R&B and the Internet Was Like “Nah, Son.”
The petition has since gone viral on social media, and within days, has racked up more than 40,000 signatures from people who wholeheartedly agree with Fields.
Some people are signing because they don’t believe Jacquees is a talented singer, while others aren’t impressed with his music covers. Some are signing for both reasons.
Among the songs Jacquees has covered in the past were Chris Brown’s version of “This Christmas,” Ella Mai’s “Trip,” Michael Jackson’s “Dirty Diana” and Beyoncé’s “Bow Down.”
Then, on top of all of that, he had the nerve, THE AUDACITY, to come for Keith Sweat:
“He must be stopped! He disrespected Keith Sweat, then I just heard his Dirty Diana cover. The boy has gone mad! Plus he dresses like a toddler,” wrote one supporter. “He did the NE ‘If it Isn’t Love’ choreography in his video for ‘Candy Rain’….everybody know you sposed to do the Candy Rain dance. This ni**a tripping!” said another.
Another supporter compared him to an “itch that don’t ever want to go away.” YIKES.
Folks have been going in on Jacquees for the past few weeks—ever since he took to social media earlier this month and called himself the “King of R&B” for the current generation. His assertion offended fans of R&B music and he’s been the butt of many a joke ever since.
Here we are nearly three weeks removed from the “I’m the King of R&B” fiasco, and Twitter still got jokes:
Jacquees pissed everybody off to the point that B2K is making a comeback.??????

So, as you can see, the internet is NOT letting up on Jacquees anytime soon.

Man Responsible for Car Crash That Killed 4 Children in South Carolina Facing 100 Years in Prison
The man responsible for the fatal car crash in South Carolina that claimed the lives of four young children, including two of his own, was hit with a number of charges and could spend more than 100 years in prison, according to news reports.
27-year-old Arnez Yaron Jamison was driving on a country road in Travelers Rest, S.C. (near Greenville) on December 7th when he lost control of the vehicle, ran off the road and slammed into several trees.
READ MORE: Quick Facts About Arnez Yaron Jamison, Man Responsible for Car Crash That Killed 4 Kids in South Carolina
There were a total of five people in the 2004 Pontiac van, including Jamison and four young children. Three of the four children—4-year-old Arnez Yaron Jamison Jr., 6-year-old Robbiana Evans, and 8-year-old Jamire Halley—all died at the scene of the single-vehicle crash.
The fourth child in the vehicle was severely injured and taken to the hospital, along with Jamison. The fourth child, 2-year-old Ar’mani Jamison, later died in the children’s ICU unit of Greenville Memorial Hospital after being taken off life support. The two younger two of the four children were biologically Jamison’s, although his family said he raised all four as his own.
The children’s mother, Jacqueline “Jackie” Brown told the Greenville News that her children meant the world to her. “I’m just incomplete now without them,” she said. “They were my everything — my heart, my blood, my breath, my motivation. They helped me get through everything I needed to get through.”

Jamison, who was in a relationship with Brown, was slapped with a number of charges as a result of the crash, including child endangerment, driving under suspension, driving an uninsured motor vehicle and four counts of felony DUI resulting in death. He was also hit with an additional criminal charge after marijuana was found in the vehicle—possession of one ounce or less of marijuana.
The fatal crash is not Jamison’s first run-in with the law. The Greenville News reported that in June 2015 police were called to the apartment he shared with Brown. During that incident, a person who called 911 to report the domestic disturbance said they heard Jamison yelling to Brown “Don’t make me knock you out,” the News reported.
A responding officer noticed blood on Jamison’s clothing and said he reeked of alcohol. The police report stated that Jamison had come home after drinking with friends to pick up more alcohol when Brown told him she thought he’d had enough. That’s when Jamison became angry and punched a hole in their wall, the report said.
According to the report, at one point during his arrest, Jamison tried to kick out a window of a police vehicle and later threatened some of the officers. The following month, he pleaded guilty to third-degree domestic violence and resisting arrest and was sentenced to 45 days in jail, according to county court records.
In March 2016, Jamison was involved in a hit-and-run where two vehicles were hit in different locations, the Greenville News reported. He was identified as the suspect in the case and was arrested at his home before being sentenced to 18 months probation.
The Greenville News reported that Jamison was also sentenced to 30 days in jail after being charged with public disorderly conduct and resisting arrest in May of that year. In that incident, officers were responding to a call at a Walmart where Jamison’s vehicle was parked in a fire lane.
When officers told him to step out of the vehicle, they detected a strong odor of alcohol on him. He resisted arrest, causing officers to fight with him for several minutes before he was handcuffed.
Later that same year, he was given a trespass notice from an apartment complex, and in November, the apartment manager called the police because he had violated the trespass notice.
When officers arrived, they found him sleeping in an upstairs bedroom, and while escorting him from the premises, Jamison tried to run away, forcing officers to tackle him to the ground. Jamison pleaded guilty to hindering a police officer and violating a trespass notice and was ordered to a pay a fine of more than $1,000.
At Jamison’s court hearing for the fatal car crash in December 2018, his family described him as “the sweetest, most generous boy that really screwed up.”
Carol McNeil, Jamison’s cousin who said she raised him as her own son, told the Greenville News: “I want the community to know that he’s a good kid. I understand they’re upset and mad, but he’s not a monster. He loved his kids. If he can sacrifice his own life for them, he would.”
McNeil said Jamison’s mother died when he was 11 years old and he’s struggled with depression ever since. She told the Greenville News that Jamison told her he “doesn’t want to live anymore” after losing his children. “Without his kids, there’s nothing to live for,” she said he told her.
The four children were laid to rest following two funeral services—one on Saturday, December 15th at Mountain Creek Baptist Church in Greenville, South Carolina, and the other in their mother’s hometown of Jersey City, New Jersey on Wednesday, December 19th.

August Alsina is mourning the loss of his sister who died on Christmas night.
The R&B singer took this his Instagram page on Wednesday (Dec. 26) to announce that his sister Chandra had passed away after a bout with cancer.
The post included a tribute video dedicated to his late sister featuring his song “Other Side” along with a lengthy message about how he is “devastated” and “deeply shattered” over the passing of his “number one fan.”
“Chandra… My Sister, My friend, life giver to my nieces, my hair magician, my biggest supporter, my number one fan. We lost such a beautiful soul on Christmas Night To the battle with cancer,” he wrote. “I am Utterly devastated & Deeply shattered! Not only for myself, but for my 3 little nieces, whom are now robbed of BOTH parents.”
He continued: “First they killed Mel, Now Cancer has stolen you. What is life? Why is life? Why is THIS life? I’m calling on God for the answers. I don’t question God but THIS I’m not in agreement with.”
August went on to describe Chandra as the “perfect mother, the perfect friend, the perfect sister, the perfect listener, the perfect caregiver, the perfect example of a young black woman traumatized by the ruins of our cultural upbringing trying their damndest to push to evolve and overcome fear while trying to raise 3 precious little innocent lives & figure out a life of your own at the same time.”
He added: “Before you left You asked me to guard & raise these girls, & I promise you I don’t even know where to begin. I am at a lost & am desperately craving and crazing to be found, so please send some signs, help us out. I have trouble accepting the fact that you’re gone, so it’ll be like we’re just going for a while without seeing each other. Someday hopefully I’ll find you where you are, where Peace is.”
The singer concluded his message asking his sister to “say hello” and to hug their brother “Melvin” and to ask God to “cover the emotions of the girls and allow their hearts to be open, accepting and able to receive love. Ask God to expand my capacity because right now I’m maxed out. Lord knows I’m still raising myself but I guess it’s officially official…I’m a DAD now & I have 3 daughters, & i don’t know the slightest thing about it or where to start but unfortunately I/we know loss too well. Rest In Peace my dearest sweet sister..You made it out of this hell hole.”
This is August Alsina’s second time dealing with the loss of a sibling, as his older brother Mel was shot and killed in 2010.
Our condolences go out to August Alsina and his family at this time.

Mugshot Madness: Adrien Broner Arrested 2 Days Before Christmas
Adrien Broner added a new mugshot to his collection earlier this week after he was arrested just two days before Christmas.
The boxing star was busted Sunday in Broward County, Florida after a warrant for his arrest was issued for failure to appear in court earlier this month. He was booked in county jail and then released … court records show.
The bench warrant stems from a case dating back to December 2017 … after he was arrested for having no driver’s license, speeding, no registration or proof of insurance. Since that arrest, he’s failed to appear in court several times … which led to a previous arrest in July for failure to appear.
It hasn’t been a great month for Adrien. As TMZ Sports first reported … Adrien’s being sued for an unpaid balance of $1.152 million on a jewelry bill.
Broner is due to fight against Manny Pacquiao on Saturday, January 19th in Las Vegas.

“Goodfellas” Actor Frank Adonis Dead at 83
Frank Adonis, a veteran actor best known for his roles in a number of Martin Scorsese films, has died at the age of 83 years old.
An official cause of death for Adonis wasn’t immediately revealed, however, TMZ reports that the actor died Wednesday night (Dec. 26) in Las Vegas after a “long battle of various health issues.”
Adonis’ wife Denise told the gossip site he had been sick with kidney problems for the past couple of years. She said he had been on dialysis and was on a ventilator in the days leading up to his passing, but the family waited until after Christmas to take him off life support.
“He will be missed. He was a great father and an amazing husband. He helped all his friends he could. Great writer, director and actor. He was my best friend,” Denise Adonis said.
Adonis had a long career in Hollywood with 40 credits to his name, including the role of Anthony Stabile in the classic 1990 mafia film, “Goodfellas.”
Frank’s also known for his roles in Scorsese’s other legendary movies — “Raging Bull” and “Casino.” In addition, he appeared in a bunch of other popular flicks, including “Wall Street,” “True Romance” and “Ace Ventura: Pet Detective.”
Frank Adonis is survived by his wife and their two children and another daughter from a previous marriage.

Terrence Howard Proposes to Ex-Wife Mira Pak With $1 Million Engagement Ring
“If at first you don’t succeed, dust yourself off and try again” is a statement Terrence Howard is taking seriously … because he just proposed to his ex-wife, Mira Pak, just three years after they divorced.
The “Empire” star reportedly popped the question Sunday night (Dec. 23) in front of friends and family at Crustacean Beverly Hills. According to TMZ, Howard presented Pak with a 7-carat VVS diamond and rose gold engagement ring worth around $1 million.
The 49-year-old actor announced the engagement via Instagram and posted a picture of the massive diamond ring. He also shared a video of him making a toast at dinner, telling Pak that he loved her.
“It took me 45 years to find you, honey. But now that I have you in my 50th year, I will spend the rest of eternity at your side. And I pray that everybody finds that one that will complete them for all eternity because it means everything. I love you,” Howard told Pak.
“I love you too, baby,” Pak replied.
Jeweler Ben Baller, who designed the engagement ring, showed it off on Instagram too:
Howard and Pak share two sons, 3-year-old Qirin Love and 2-year-old Hero. The couple got married in 2013 but Pak filed for divorce just two years later in 2015 when she was pregnant with Qirin. They got back together earlier this year, and now they’re preparing to walk down the aisle for a second time.
Mind you, this isn’t the first time Terrence Howard has re-married an ex-wife. He married his first wife, Lori McCommas, in 1989. They divorced in 2003 and re-married in 2005 before divorcing for a second time in 2007. They have three children together: daughters Aubrey and Heaven and a son named Hunter. Howard also has two grandchildren through his daughter Aubrey—a granddaughter born in December 2012 and a grandson born in February 2015.
Howard was also briefly married to Michelle Ghent from 2010 to 2013. Ghent filed for divorce in February 2011 and filed for a restraining order in December of that same year, accusing Howard of being physically abusive towards her. Their divorce was finalized in 2013.

Watch the Terrifying Trailer for Jordan Peele’s New Psychological Thriller “Us”
Oops, he did it again! Jordan Peele is putting out yet another movie that will have EVERYONE talking. And if you thought “Get Out” was terrifying, wait until you see the trailer for Peele’s latest psychological thriller “Us.”
The film stars Oscar winner Lupita Nyong’o and her “Black Panther” co-star Winston Duke as a mother and father who take their two children on vacation to a beach house expecting to enjoy time with friends, but their trip quickly turns into a nightmare when a family of four that looks just like them arrive to torment them and expose their worst fears.
The trailer (released on Christmas Day, of all days)—backed by the 1990’s classic “I Got 5 On It”—sets up the movie perfectly. As the dark plot unfolds, the upbeat song quickly transforms into a sinister soundtrack for the film.
Once Gabe (Winston Duke) notices the strange doppelgänger family posted up outside his family’s vacation home, he says to them “If you wanna get crazy, we can get crazy!”
“They look exactly like us. They think like us. They know where we are. We need to move and keep moving. They won’t stop until they kill us… or we kill them,” Adelaide (Lupita Nyong’o) says later.
Adelaide and her husband must fight off their doppelgängers in order to save their two children. But, they’re not alone because the entire town is being terrorized by doppelgängers of other families too!
“Us” opens in theaters nationwide on March 15th, 2019. Watch the trailer above!
