10 Teens Shot at High School Football Game in Alabama, 17-Year-Old Arrested & Charged With Attempted Murder

Police say an Alabama teen has been arrested and is facing attempted murder charges after 10 people were shot after a high school football game in Mobile.

According to police, the ages of the victims in the shooting ranged from 15 years old to 18 years old.

The shooting happened Friday night (Aug. 31) at Ladd-Peebles Stadium, a city-owned venue hosting a game between LeFlore High School and Williamson High School, WKYT reported.

Officials said the wounded teens were all rushed to area hospitals. Fortunately, no one suffered any life-threatening injuries and no one died as a result of the shooting, authorities said.

17-year-old Deangelo Parnell was arrested and charged with nine counts of attempted murder.

Police Chief Lawrence Battiste said the shooting stemmed from an altercation, and the suspect pulled out a gun and started “indiscriminately shooting.”

Investigators reviewed surveillance footage that clearly shows Parnell firing the shots.

Police believe Parnell was the only shooter, however, they also believe there are adults who knew something would be going down at the game, and have urged them to come forward with any information they may have about the shooting, which remains under investigation.

In a news conference, Battiste admonished young people for “bringing their beefs that they have with each other in their neighborhoods” into public settings and “putting people in harm’s way.”

Battiste called the incident “a cowardly act by an individual who didn’t know how to deal with a situation.”

“It’s not acceptable in our community, we won’t tolerate it,” he said. “We’re going to ask that the community help us by identifying those individuals that they know that bring this type of foolishness out to these type of events.”

Battiste added the incident “may have been a directed threat at one or two individuals and other people just happened to fall prey to their carelessness.”

Mobile Mayor Sandy Stimpson said in a statement: “Our children and their families deserve to enjoy a high school football game or any public event without the thought of gun violence.”

She continued: “As a community, we will heal. As a community, we have to get the guns out of the hands of our youth.”

XXXTentacion Murder Suspect Wants Testimony Suppressed, Claims Police Violated His Constitutional Rights

One of the four men arrested in connection to XXXTentacion’s June 2018 murder wants his statement thrown out, claiming police violated his rights.

According to documents obtained by The Blast, Michael Boatwright’s lawyer has filed a motion to have his testimony inadmissible in court on grounds that an investigator violated Boatwright’s constitutional right to remain silent during an improper interrogation.

Boatwright was arrested in July 2018 on an unrelated drug charge and then taken to the Broward Sheriff’s Office interrogation room, without having his Miranda Rights read to him.

A homicide detective investigating Boatwright as a possible suspect in Tentacion’s murder entered the room and began asking Boatwright “background questions.”

According to his lawyer, eight minutes into the interview, Boatwright said “[I] don’t wanna talk no more.” But the officer continued to ask questions. This action would have violated Boatwright’s right to remain silent.

The interrogation stopped when another officer entered the room to take photos and a DNA sample from Boatwright.

Only then was Boatwright read his Miranda Rights and the first officer resumed asking Boatwright questions regarding Tentacion’s murder. However, his lawyer says Boatright remained silent, only asking the occasional question.

The officer even allegedly said “Just tell me to f**k off then. So I know you’re done.”

Boatwright is currently incarcerated as he awaits trial for the rapper’s murder, but is actively building a defense.

Next month, Boatwright’s lawyer is expected to have XXXTentacion’s mother Cleopatra Bernard, the mother of the rapper’s son, Jenesis Sanchez, and a witness to the murder, Leonard Kerr, all deposed.

The depositions will then be used for Boatwright’s defense.

XXXTentacion was fatally shot in Florida in June 2018 during an apparent robbery gone bad while shopping for a new motorcycle at Riva Motorsports. He was only 20.

Boatwright was arrested alongside three other men for the murder: Dedrick Williams, Trayvon Newsome, and Robert Allen.

Dallas Austin Reflects on the Time Monica Punched Brandy in the Face Before ’98 VMAs Performance: “Monica Was Very Ghetto”

It’s the beef that just won’t go away. The infamous Brandy and Monica feud has been ongoing for two decades with a few bright spots in between. And now, producer Dallas Austin is giving his take on the R&B diva beef.

Austin—who co-produced the 1998 duet “The Boy Is Mine”—sat down with VladTV and discussed the “heavyweight beef” between Monica and Brandy, including the punch that happened right before the duo’s only televised performance of the song.

“Monica was very ghetto when it came down to it,” he said of the teenager whom he admits was still trying to find her “real self.”

“If you didn’t have gold teeth, she didn’t like you,” he added. “So she was really hood in Atlanta.”

He says Monica felt Brandy was “too proper” and was open about her dislike for the singer/actress. She didn’t even want to record the song.

“So from that point, even to have them do ‘The Boy is Mine,’ Monica was like, ‘Nope. I’m not doing no song with her.’

“I was like, ‘C’mon. You got it. It just makes the most sense. Clive [Davis] wants it. Let’s just do it.’ So we did the song. I did Monica’s stuff out here and they did Brandy’s out there.”

And when they shot the video, Austin revealed there was “no interaction, no friendship.”

They saw each other for the first time when they were set to perform at the 1998 MTV Video Music Awards.

Their feud came to a head backstage when Monica punched Brandy in the face right before the performance.

“And the first time they actually saw each other to do it, I think it was the American Music Awards [sic] or something and before they could even get to the stage, Monica decked her in the face, popped her in the face backstage. Slams his fist into his palm.

“And I went ‘Oh my God!’ So everybody was like ‘How are we going to have a performance that looks they’re not at war with each other?’ But it worked out because the song is they’re supposed to be at war with each other so nobody could tell that she punched her in the face before the performance.”

While promoting their 2012 follow-up, “It All Belongs to Me,” Monica revealed a physical incident occurred, but neither wanted to dwell on the past so they didn’t offer many details on the matter.

Their relationship again deteriorated after the release of that single and a failed joint tour.

Cardi B Reveals What She Went Through to Finish ‘Invasion of Privacy’ While Pregnant, Plus What Nipsey Hussle Told Her After Grammy Win

Cardi B is still riding on a high after winning a moonperson at the 2019 MTV Video Music Awards earlier this week.

But as the accolades for her debut album, Invasion of Privacy, keep rolling in, she’s been reflecting on how hard she had to push and prove herself in order to release the finished product.

Cardi had quite a few things to say one Twitter on today (Aug. 28).

And as always, she was brutally honest as she shared the many struggles she faced while completing the album including worrying how her pregnancy would affect her career, battling depression, dealing with relationship issues with Offset, and pleading for features.

“On my album I showed different sides of me. From my intro talking about my [past]. To living my best life inspiring people. Relationship songs while I was going thru my own relationship drama to shaking ass like Bodak & that ASS. Every song went platinum!” she wrote.

“I did it all while I was pregnant. Throwing up, drowsy, terrible colds and in a rush to finish it so I can start doing music videos before I started showing. I spend 24 hours for months sleeping on a couch with my pregnant depressed ass in a studio,” she added.

And in another tweet, she claimed that several artists said no to appear on her album or were asking six figures for a feature.

Offset was out there pleading Cardi’s case on her behalf and she expressed gratitude for those that did agree to work with her.

She closed the reflection by recalling a kind comment the late Nipsey Hussle said to her after she won her Grammy earlier this year.

“When I won Nipsey said on a comment to me WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME!” she wrote.

And she says she now passes the sentiment forward to upcoming artists.

“Now when I speak to upcoming [artists] or people who ask me for advice I tell them the same thing! WHEN IS YOUR TIME IS YOUR TIME and when it comes don’t let nobody take that special moment away from you!”

Angels Pitcher Tyler Skaggs Died by Choking on Vomit After Overdosing on Fentanyl, Oxycodone & Alcohol

Los Angeles Angels pitcher Tyler Skaggs had a deadly combination of drugs, as well as alcohol, in his system when he was found dead in his Texas hotel room on July 1st.

According to the results of Skaggs’ autopsy and toxicology reports, his official cause of death was listed as a mixture of “alcohol, fentanyl and oxycodone intoxication with terminal aspiration of gastric contents,” which means that the 27-year-old basically choked on his vomit while over the influence, causing his immediate death.

Skaggs was found on his bed, fully clothed, and there were no signs of trauma, the report states. His death, according to the report, was ruled an accident.

Police in Southlake, Texas continue to investigate.

Tyler Skaggs’ family released the following statement, which includes a mention about an Angels employee possibly having some involvement in his death:

“We are heartbroken to learn that the passing of our beloved Tyler was the result of a combination of dangerous drugs and alcohol. That is completely out of character for someone who worked so hard to become a Major League baseball player and had a very promising future in the game he loved so much.

“We are grateful for the work of the detectives in the Southlake Police Department and their ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding Tyler’s death. We were shocked to learn that it may involve an employee of the Los Angeles Angels. We will not rest until we learn the truth about how Tyler came into possession of these narcotics, including who supplied them. To that end, we have hired attorney Rusty Hardin to assist us.”

Simone Biles’ Brother Tevin Biles-Thomas Arrested for Killing 3 People in New Year’s Eve Shooting

The brother of Olympic gymnasts Simone Biles has been arrested in connection to a triple murder in Ohio.

Tevin Biles-Thomas was arrested at Fort Stewart in Georgia—where is on active duty in the army—on Thursday (Aug. 29) and charged with murder for a New Year’s Eve shooting in Cleveland that left three young men dead and injured two other people.

Biles-Thomas, 24, was charged with six counts of murder, three counts of voluntary manslaughter, five counts of felonious assault, and perjury.

He is currently being held in Liberty County jail in Georgia. It’s unknown if he has obtained counsel or when he’ll be extradited to Ohio.

According to Cleveland police, the fatal shooting occurred when uninvited guests arrived at an Airbnb on New Year’s Eve. When the uninvited people refused to leave, Biles-Thomas pulled out a gun and opened fire into the crowd of people.

Toshaun Banks, 21, and Delvante Johnson, 19, were pronounced dead on the scene. Devaughn Gibson, 23 was later pronounced dead after being transported to a hospital.

Cuyahoga County Prosecutor Michael C. O’Malley praised Cleveland police for the arrest after the eight-month-long investigation.

“The relentless persistence of Cleveland Police Homicide detectives helped secure an indictment in this case,” O’Malley said in a statement. “It is through their hard work that we can begin to seek justice for these victims.”

An arraignment for Biles-Thomas is scheduled for September 13th.

Biles-Thomas and his sister, Simone, were raised in Ohio and were both adopted by their maternal grandfather and his wife. Simone calls them dad and mom.

Back in 2017, Simone shared photos of her brother, Tevin.

“My brother tevin,” she wrote. “Everyone says we look like twins but we don’t see it.”

Biles—who recently made news for successfully performing two gymnastics skills never done before—has not explicitly commented on her brother’s arrest. However, she did share a tweet late Thursday night.
