A global search is underway to find the man who appears to have lost his wedding ring off Playa Del Carmen, Mexico, and/or the woman whose name appears on the ring.
Daniel Roark, 21, found the gold ring on the sea floor while scuba diving last September, off an area called Barracuda Point.

It was clearly a man’s wedding wing, inscribed with the name, “Jessica,” and an abbreviation that translates to, “You and I against the world.” Next to Jessica’s name was the presumed wedding date, Feb. 16, 2013.
On September 29, hoping to find the owner, Roark posted about his discovery on Facebook, and included a photo of the ring. Included in the post was an email address created to make it easy for the ring owner to contact Roark: Thelostweddingring@yahoo.com.
Fast-forward to early December. Roark’s original post has been shared more than 123,000 times, and it has been re-posted and shared thousands of other times on other Facebook pages.
The story was being reported by Boston-area news networks this week.
CBS News Boston on Wednesday reported that the post has been shared a total of 250,000 times and reached 100 countries.
“I think it’s really cool to see how so many would go out of their way to reunite a ring and its owner,” said Roark, who is from Gloucester, Massachusetts.

The unmarried Roark elaborated to the Boston Globe, saying, “If I had something like that happen to me, I’d want someone to do the same. If you want the world to change, you have to be that change.”
Yet, despite so much exposure and reaching out, neither the ring owner nor Jessica has stepped forward, which is raising concern.
Said Roark: “I’m hoping it wasn’t some angry spouse who tossed it into the ocean, saying this marriage is over!”
