Keanu Asing of Hawaii hit surfing’s World Qualifying Series hard in 2013 and 2014 with a one-track mind: make the World Championship Tour or die trying.
“This has been my dream since I first started surfing,” smiles Asing. “I put in hard work, and not just on a board. I’ve worked on the mental game, the physical, and have done everything I could possibly do to make myself a better surfer—and prove to the world that I belong on the World Tour.”
Asing will start his rookie season on February 28 on the Gold Coast of Australia at right-hand pointbreak Snapper Rocks, a spot that appears will suit Keanu’s surfing to a T.
“I’m super excited to get to Australia and get some practice at Snapper Rocks,” smiles Asing. “It’s pretty surreal to be living the dream you’ve had since your were a kid, and I’m still so happy and buzzing. But at the same time, I’m ready to get to work and get the jersey back on.”

As a rookie, Keanu will be matched up against the world’s top surfers in his early heats—nothing like jumping right into the fire! With a hardcore work ethic, a consistent and powerful approach to surfing, as well as a smart, competitive mindset, Keanu has a great shot at making a real mark on the tour.
“I may be small in stature, but I’m huge in heart—I’m going in to each and every heat with everything I have. I can’t wait to get started!”
