Deep-water soloing is a emerging sport that involves scaling a shear cliff that overhangs a body of water. Then dropping from it when a demanding handhold becomes impossible to complete. The clincher? Free-falling from a 50-foot cliff.
Viewed as a relatively new style of climbing, its origin is firmly rooted in the warmer waters of places like Majorca. But in and around Europe (and even in the central lakes of Texas), the practice is growing among a new generation.
