We’ve had a weird winter in the West. It’s been the kind of dry that makes you feel like it might never snow again and worry that the rivers might slow to a trickle by midsummer. If you need some reassurance that the getting is still good, you might want to hang out with these guys.
Kyle Dowman and Patrick Nelson, who live in Jackson Hole, Wyoming, have been taking advantage of long, light spring days, corn snow, and early hatches. In what appear to be some of the dreamiest days ever, they’ve been skinning out into the Tetons, ripping lips on some beautiful cutthroats, skiing steep chutes, then making it home in time for dinner. It’s a nice reminder that even (or maybe especially) after a dry winter, sleeper spring skiing, when it’s good, is that much sweeter.
